This article substantiates the importance of the development of rural infrastructure, which implies a set of facilities that are necessary for the livelihood of the rural population and organizations whose activities are aimed at protecting health, education, upbringing, cultural development and meeting other social needs of the rural population. The state of infrastructure in the Altai Territory is also being considered. The dynamics of the urban and rural population of the Altai Territory is considered. The analysis of the main indicators is carried out, according to the results of which an assessment of the current state of rural infrastructure in the Altai Territory is given and the directions of its improvement are justified according to key indicators characterizing the housing and communal services, the social sector and the telecommunications network. Solutions to the problems of rural infrastructure development are proposed: creating conditions for attracting highly qualified personnel to medical and educational institutions in rural areas; creating a developed telecommunications network; budgetary financing of social infrastructure support; support for small businesses in the field of legal regulation in relation to the development of social and consumer services facilities. The results of the study allow us to assess the current state of rural infrastructure. The results show the insufficiency of infrastructure development in rural areas of the Altai Territory. It is necessary to improve the mechanisms that contribute to improving the development of rural infrastructure, which will eventually contribute to reducing the inequality of living conditions of rural and urban populations.
