The article analyzes the key provisions of the political and legal model of state-confessional relations that has developed in Byzantium, and also considers the possibility of their partial reception and further implementation within the framework of other political and cultural entities; examines the relevance of the experience of creating and practical functioning of the symphony theory for subsequent legal traditions (including modern ones). It is noted that the reception of the provisions of Roman law, which significantly influenced the processes of genesis, evolution and consolidation of the Byzantine model of relations between church and state, due to a number of historical reasons that determine the cultural and legal identity of Byzantium, can be only limited, but is possible, at least in two directions: recognition of the status of public legal entities for religious organizations, as well as reflection of the status of religious associations in legislation without reference to the terminology of corporatism.
