Social health of Russian society: criminological aspect

The article describes the main trends in the criminal situation in the context of the federal districts of Russian Federation for the period from 1990 to 2010. Offenses severity index and latent crime level is calculated. The analysis of society victimization problem on the basis of official statistics and the results of a poll conducted in the Vologda region is presented. The recommendations aimed at preventing crime and law enforcement agencies' optimization are proposed.
