The social group «masters» among the citizens of Urals (based on census 1920)

The article is devoted to the little-known problem in the historiography of the Urals—the social group of “masters” in the Ural cities. The author draws attention to the heterogeneity of the social group of citizens that included home with hired workers, owners, working only with family members, and owners of single. The dynamics of the number of each of these social groups and their share of amateur citizens, analyzes their work and share in the national economy of the region in the 1920s. The author comes to the conclusion that the specific impact on the regional economy class hosts, who in 1926 were engaged primarily in handicraft production.
