Syntactic means of expressiveness in the novel “Zuleikha opens her eyes” by G. Yakhina

This article analyses the novel by G. Yakhina “Zuleikha opens her eyes” from the point of view of its syntax. The stylistic means at the syntactic level are of paramount importance for getting an insight of the literary text. We believe that the syntactic structure of the language in the novel and the syntactic means of expressiveness form the core of the literary text and allow us to discuss the uniqueness of the author’s individual style. It is shown that the distinct nature of the narrative is created primarily through the use of various syntactic means of the Russian language. Analysis of the artistic space of the novel at the syntactic level shows that the author primarily uses the expressive syntactic means of the Russian language. The most striking expressive syntactic features are stylistic figures. Along with them, nonspecific syntactic constructions are also mentioned, which in the text perform a special stylistic function of offering discreteness to the narrative. The article attempts to explain the incredible success of the novel by a young author who has already won numerous prestigious literature awards.
