Бесплатный доступ

This article presents the study of the semantic function of the ornamental pattern of the Middle Volga Abashevo culture. Once the signs-symbols appeared as crockery patterns, the pattern gained a semantic function in addition to a decorative one. In the Bronze Age the Abashevo tribes in their cognition came to learn the patterns and rules of nature and human existence, so their patterns reflected not only real objects of the world around, but also reflected psychic activities of people, products of myths formation process. The spiritual culture of the Abashevo tribes is characterized by such level of knowledge, when ornamental patterns express the mythological model of the world.
