The subject area of rumours circulating in Altai Gubernia at the end of Civil war and at the beginning of NEP is analysed. The author shows the classification of rumours according to their content, the mechanism of rumours origin and rumours spreading. The attitude of authority to forwarding such kind of unofficial information is defined.
