Moral upbringing of military commanders, Army and Navy servicemen in the 18th - the beginning of the 20th century was carried out under influence of the Russian Orthodox Church. The lifestyle of a military man in that time was full of religious ideology and practice where the leading positions were held by moral values. The Church was to favor an elevation of morale of the servicemen, put their behavior in accordance with Christian norms that demand unconditional subordination to the commanders as set above them by God, strictly keep the military oath, render mutual assistance in battle, keep up respect to the seniors, be disciplined, honest, don’t make sacrilege, theft and other things unworthy of Russian religious man. The author considers the main components and methods of the moral upbringing of servicemen in Russian Army and Navy in the 18th - the beginning of the 20th century.
