The influence of operating activities of the transnational domestic corporations on the potential specialization process and the quality transition in the economies of the parent regions are analyzed in this paper. Two basic hypotheses are formulated: the relatively high role of TNCs in the regional economy’s development and rising social costs, arising from constraints on economic agents that do not meet the needs of enterprise production and consumption. The research objects are TNCs «Tatneft» and «Bashneft» and their corresponding operating activities of the regions. Both companies are typical for the Russian corporate environment of transnational type, but the controlling shareholder differs in the part of internal architecture in the studied period - in the first case, these are regional authorities, and in the second - private investors. Hypotheses have been partly confirmed according to the results of the correlation analysis performed by standard methods. The imbalance of economic development has been identified in the first observed event and the manifestation of one of «English disease» effects - in the second.
