Experimental research results of the effect of ozone-air mixture on the operation of a gasoline internal combustion engine

The article briefly outlines a hypothesis describing how the ozone-air mixture (OAM) supplied together with fuel into the cylinders of an internal combustion engine (ICE) affects the efficiency of the combustion of fuel. The article presents experimental research results of the effect of the ozone-air mixture (OAM) on the operation of the gasoline internal combustion engine of the car GAZ-52, namely how and how much the ozone-air mixture after passing through the filtration system, forming ozone-air mixture in the combustion chamber and being supplied to the gasoline internal combustion engine affects the change in fuel consumption and emissions of CO and CHx into the atmosphere. There has been offered a technique of experimental research and presented the exterior of a laboratory experimental setup. Experimental studies were carried out with a change in the load and engine speed using an ozone generator as well as without structural changes in the engine, and their effect on hourly fuel consumption was quantified. Also, the experimental research results of the effect of OAM with different concentrations supplied to the combustion chamber of the gasoline internal combustion engine were presented. The concentration of carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon radical in the exhaust gases was quantified under varying load and engine crankshaft speed. There have been analyzed the obtained results out as well as drawn the conclusions about the effectiveness of the proposed system of preliminary ozonation.
