Religious motives in John Locke's concept of private property

The article is devoted to the problem of identifying philosophical and ideological ideas about the legal institution of private property in the period of the birth of capitalism. The concept of private property of the outstanding philosopher of the Enlightenment, John Locke, as the brightest predecessor of classical liberalism, was chosen as the subject of the study. It is the English Enlightenment, which arose in a country that was one of the first to embark on the path of capitalist development, that most reflects the idea of the inviolability of private property. The article emphasizes the dialectical interrelation of elements of secular and religious culture in the transitional period of early Modern times.
