Religious enlightening activity of orthodox clergy among non-Russian peoples of Povolzhsky krai in the end of XVIII - beginning XIX centuries

The article is concerned with reasons that led in the end of XVIII - beginning XIX centuries to a decrease of religious enlightening activity of orthodox clergy among non-Russian peoples of the Povolzhsky Krai. A concise but thorough account of measures taken by the Russian Orthodox Church to improve the current situation is provided.
