The article deals with the problem of implementation of gender equality policy in Russia as one of the conditions to democratize the society. Russian legislation does not contain any provisions that would lead to sex discrimination. At the same time it lacks the entry of such a concept as «discrimination against women» although this type of discrimination is deeply rooted in subconscious and is laid by a stereotype of a woman based on a patriarchal cast of a social life in Russia.
