This article briefly examines the main provisions of A. Smith in the field of political economy: on the specialization and cooperation of labor, on needs and economic interests, utility and value, on the functioning of the market, the international division and cooperation of labor. Analyzing the economic literature, it can be argued that there are not many works on economics that do not mention and analyze the ideas of A. Smith. There are works (but not many of them) in which the historical aspects and the evolution of the views of A. As a great scientist, the inconsistency and incompleteness of the process were analyzed so clearly and deeply. Only A. Smith, based on the opinion of the English methodologist and historian of economic thought M. Blaug, became the one who created "the first full-fledged work in economic science that sets out the general basis of science".
