Problems of higher education of the Mordovian region in the prewar years

In this article is considered a period of formation and development of high education in Mordovia Republic since the early 20th century till the begining of the Great Patriotic War. The author shows the difficulties faced teaching staff and management of the pedagogical Institute. The author gives us a lot of facts of repressive measures which were used against teachers. The author points out a critical situation that has developed in this period of time because of ideological pressure.
