Problemal issues in assessing the level of digitalization of the economy

This article is devoted to the consideration of individual problems associated with assessing the level of digitalization of the Russian economy. The article notes the importance of studying the impact of the level of development of digital technologies on economic growth. Currently, there are many indicators by which the level of development of the digital economy is assessed. At the same time, a different set of primary indicators, as well as integral indices, are presented in official statistics, programs for the development of the digital economy, research reports. This is already a problem in itself for understanding the level and trends of the digital economy, as it causes the incomparability of the levels of its measurement. The article also notes the problem of unevenness, asymmetry in the development of the digital economy in the regions of Russia and in individual industries, which can be adequately identified only when using integral indicators. In this case, it is necessary to use an approach that presupposes a careful preliminary selection of primary indicators included in the integral indices. This can be done with a preliminary study of the degree of closeness of the relationship (correlation) and the construction of regression models. The article shows an example of this approach.
