This article is devoted to one of the urgent problems of modern pedagogy and methods of teaching literature - the use of active teaching methods in the pedagogical practice. It is important for each teacher to make their lessons interesting and vivid, to captivate students with their subject, to make them actively, independently and creatively work. Building a lesson today requires the use of modern teaching methods. The most effective, from the author’s point of view, is the method of problem-based training. The purpose of this article is to show the effectiveness of the problem-based training method in teaching literature. The article substantiates the idea that problem-based training in literature lessons contributes to the formation of the spiritual qualities of the personality of students. The author seeks to show students in lessons, that literature is not a foreign, abstract world with fi ctional human problems and experiences. Many problems contained in artistic literary are personally signifi cant and relevant for readers. Approaching the solution of these problems allows the method of problem-based training. Solving moral problems, students come to the idea of a high sense of human being, the need for spiritual self-improvement, and the fact that the priority in the life of every person should be not material, but spiritual values.
