The problem of treatment and prevention of diseases of the distal limb of cows is currently relevant. The incidence of animals diseases in herds with the affect of claw horns is at the level of 25-30%, and according to some data it can reach 35-40% and even more. The largest number of affected claw horns occurs on the hind limbs. The development and implementation of the effective therapeutic and prophylactic methods for combating diseases of the distal limbs in cows is of great veterinary and zoological importance. The aim of the research was to study the means "EMS-I type A" for the treatment and prevention of claw horn diseases in cows. The research was carried out at dairy complexes located in the Oryol region. The object of the study was black-and-white Holstein cattle. Two series of experiments were carried out: in the first one, the study of therapeutic efficacy was carried out, and in the second series, the preventive effect of the use of the drug was examined. Individual trimming, functional pruning and treatment of cows with the distal limbs affect with the use of 50% means "EMC-I type A", depending on the degree and area of tissue damage, ensured their recovery after 2-3 dressings. Studies have shown that driving cows through hoof baths filled with a 10% foam solution of the "EMC-I type A" agent provided a containment of the growth of the development of the disease in the studied groups. To increase the preventive effect in cows, it is necessary to ensure regular inspection, systematic trimming and timely trimming of excessively regrown hooved horns.
