Thermoelasticity method application on finite elements modeling of residual strained state in surface hardened parts

It's been shown that if the initial deformation in the hardened body surface layer doesn't depend on direction then the volumetric deformation analogous to thermoelasticity appears. Problem solutions by analytical method and by FEM are given. The comparison of these solutions gave the same results. The Finite Elements models and program complexes utilization makes it possible to solve residual stresses distribution problems by thermoelasticity methods when the initial deformations are anisotropic. Residual stresses distribution calculation method has been suggested for surface hardened parts of complicated geometric form. This method uses residual stresses distribution of a reference specimen.
