The authors analyze the events of August 2020 in Belarus in the context of the ambivalence of the modern subculture of youth protests, in which the total digitalization of young generations in different countries, providing a single platform for their perception of reality, coexists with the growth of markers of ethnocultural authenticity that violate the unity of this platform. In this paradigm, the originality of the Belarusian mentality, rooted both in the history of the country and in the culture of intergenerational transmission of its value norms determines the characteristic features of the protest potential of Belarusian youth. The article emphasizes that the Belarusian youth is under the influence of several contradictory factors of influence that prevent them from developing a clear position in relation to the events taking place in the country.
