Legal value of warning the witness

Purpose: A research of legal value of warning the witness on his rights and responsibilities. Methodology: The author applied a formal-legal, logical and comparative legal methods. Results: The article provides a legal analysis of values of warning the witness (and other participants in criminal proceedings) on their rights and responsibilities for the providing of misleading information from the point of view of the domestic criminal law, as well as the examples of some foreign countries. Novelty/originality/value: The scientific value of the article is that it justified the need for consolidation in the disposition of Article 307 of the Criminal Code requirement for mandatory warning the witnesses (and other participants in the proceedings) of their rights and responsibilities. The originality of the work is determined by using the study not only of the provisions of the domestic criminal law, but also examples of some foreign countries, as well as the reference to the opinion of practitioners on the relevant issue.
