Everyday life of the Mordovians in the second part of the 19th century - beginning of 20th century

The second part of the 19th century - beginning of the 20th century is characterized as a period of important changes in lives of Mordovian peasants. Traditional institutions, daily lifestyle underwent serious changes. However, the processes of modernization had contradictory character, combined involvement of separate elements and structural parts of everyday life into the market mechanism with conservation of the patriarchal trait and the sociocultural originality. The article is about the lifestyle of the Mordovians in the conditions of the capitalist modernization and integration of the national periphery into economic and sociocultural space of Russian Empire. The author pays attention to appearance of innovations in usual structures, reflected in the system of life support, family culture and moral values. The activity of district councils that changed the daily life of the Mordovians is analyzed. The role of confessional factor in changing of religious consciousness, family rites and foundations of family is shown.
