The article deals with the problem of elaboration of the United States policy towards the Palestinian problem after the adoption of the United Nations' resolution on the partition of Palestine into Arab and Jewish states in 1947. The author reveals the factors which determined the United States' political about-face and the repudiation of supporting the resolution.
