Potential and prospects for the development of the digital economy of the regions of Russia

The purpose of the research, the results of which are presented in this article, is to study the potential and prospects for the development of the digital economy in Russia's regions. The relevance of the research topic is that digitalization is one of the key engines of socio-economic development of regions. Information and digital technologies are becoming a powerful engine of all spheres: production, trade, logistics, medicine, education, etc. To attract investors and human capital, it is important that regions use the full potential of the digital economy as a competitive advantage. The author offers a refined concept of "digital economy", studies the main directions of development of the digital economy at the present stage, defines indicators that characterize the development of the digital economy at the regional level. The article provides a comparative analysis of the development of the digital economy in Russia and developed countries, as well as in certain regions of the country, and provides recommendations for improving the level of development of the digital economy in Russian regions.
