The article discusses the need for a comprehensive approach in scientific justification and development of massage theory and practice. The biomechanical bases of massage and their impact on forming physiological effects are reviewed. The authors set the purposes of biomechanical studies of massage effects to solve problems of teaching the techniques of the classical manual massage. The importance of further study of the biomechanical concept of teaching the massage techniques is revealed.
