Potters’ settlement of Babish-Mulla 7 in the lower reaches of the Syr Darya (2015 excavations)

The paper presents preliminary results of first excavations at Babish-Mulla 7,which is a settlement in the ancient Syr Darya delta, where the agricultural Chirikrabatarchaeological culture existed in the second half of I mill. BC. Babish-Mulla 7 is a largeproduction pottery center of the 3rd-2nd centuries BC, which supplied ceramics to thepopulation of a large agricultural oasis. Two-tier ceramic roasting kilns of an originaldesign, which have no analogues in Central Asia in the last third of I mill. BC, were foundat the settlement. Production premises where pots were made were excavated.
