Policy in the sphere of religious education: historical experience and modernity (based on materials of the Chelyabinsk region)

The article considers the formation of religious studies and religious education, as well as the development of religious legislation governing this process. The period of perestroika serves as the foundation, the 1990s as the basis of modern legislation. The features of the development of religious education within the framework of traditional religious denominations - Orthodoxy, Islam and Judaism, due to the pecularities of the denominations themselves are shown. Attention is paid to regional agreements of state power and confessions for the development of religious education. Author's view on the state of the sphere of modern religious education - the teaching of religious studies in schools and universities - is represented.
