Political and civil potential of youth of the Volga region and the Crimean Republic in the modern situation

In modern societies, the younger generation is growing up in conditions of constant socio-economic crises and instability, which entails the social uncertainty, affects the stability of normative value structures, causing the socio-cultural features of the formation and development of the social potential of different youth groups. The political potential of young people, being a part of social potential, is also affected by ongoing social transformations in Russian society. It is characterized, firstly, by rather high level of electoral activity, secondly, by low level of development of political and legal values, political culture, and civic consciousness, thirdly, by mobility in the field of political orientations, protest and civic activity depending on modern social and political economic situation. On materials of sociological research among young people of Volga Region and the Republic of Crimea and on the secondary analysis of data from other studies, the authors consider the value components of political and civic potential of today's youth, such as political and legal values, attitudes towards politics and political participation, and the development of civic consciousness among young people.
