The first appearance of the cattle egret - Bubulcus ibis in Transbaikal region

Cattle Egret - Bubulcus ibis began to register on the territory of the Zabaikalsky Krai (former Chita Region in Transbaikalia) since 2014. Two individuals lived during the week in the June of 2014 on the outskirts of Ishaga Village near the Argun River (51.4667° N; 119.9667° E) and five individuals during one day on June 4, 2018 in the same place. One individual on July 13, 2017 was recorded in the vicinity of the Lake Zun-Torey (50.16533° N; 115.7554° E). One individual from May 12 to June 7, 2018 lived on the outskirts of Krasny Chikoi Village (50.36785° N; 108.7554° E). Three individuals were recorded on May 27, 2018 in the vicinity of Haranor Village (50.13401° N, 116.65008° E). One individual was recorded on July 15, 2018 in the floodplain of the Borzya River (50.35474° N; 116.28945° E). All but one individual fed and rested near rural settlements or near grazing cows, in most cases on wet meadows with low vegetation. The all recorded birds were nonbreeding. At least two individuals had the mating plumage, but most were young individuals with poorly developed rusty-orange feathers.
