The chants for honorable princes Boris and Gleb fixed in the singing manuscript books from the end of 11-19th centuries. Saint Boris and Gleb were - martyrs, defender of Russia, holy unmercenary healers. Repertoire singing books includes liturgical hymns, repentence poems and spiritual verses. This article describes research of the general principles of art creativity in ancient-Russian chants art - models, similars, and the receptions of their used in hymnography, icon painting and literary genres. The real historical events were reflected in the new original chants were created in honor of Boris and Gleb. Research of the chants for Boris and Gleb makes it possible to identify the general principles of art creativity in ancient Russian canonical art.
