Possibility of enlargement additional services in health resorts in Republic of Karelia

The article examines researching possibilities of enlargement additional services in health resorts in Karelia Republic. The authors describe resorts of the Republic of Karelia and consider the main principles of organization and requirements of service in resorts tourism. The authors define leisure and animation potential as a direction of leisure activities and make a review of the main foreign and Russian studying in this area. This article describes possibilities of using various leisure programs to attract customer’s attention to resort tourism. The authors clarify particular qualities of leisure organization as an additional service, and these qualities should be taken into consideration in making animation strategy in the resort complex. The authors also identify the main approaches in the strategy of animation activity in the resort complex on the base of famous characters from books and fairy-tales connected with region of tourist visiting; historical and events characters related to the region of the animation program; old legends and the creation of new ones; organization traditionally repeating events; other attractive resources of the region to create an animation program. Using the specific examples, the authors present the possibilities of Karelian-Finnish epos «Kalevala» and other sources that connected with historical characters and fairy-tale heroes, legends and events that took place in Karelia. The article considers the possibilities of proposed measures in resorts. As a result, the authors proposes prospects for expanding additional services in resorts based on national, historical, ethnographic and natural features of the region, which can be easily adapted for every region of the Russian Federation.
