The article analyzes the features of the functional-semantic field of German verbs of speaking, which are an integral part of the speech portrait of the character. In the center of the study are verbs related to the periphery, and their features. Verbs of speaking are classified according to various criterias: prosodic, semantic, functional-semantic, stylistic, etc.
