Palliative care for children and adolescents in the terminal stages of malignant tumors

Бесплатный доступ

In the cohort of patients with various pathologies who have exhausted all the possibilities of modern medicine and are subject only to symptomatic care, children and adolescents suffering from malignant tumors make up a relatively small, but the most complex group in terms of the variety and severity of symptoms. Most of the children and adolescents with terminal malignant tumors are at home or in general hospitals. Planning and implementation of measures to alleviate the suffering of these patients in most cases is carried out by pediatricians. For such doctors, it is important to have an idea of the path that these children go through until the terminal period of the disease is established, as well as about the features of this period in childhood and adolescence. This publication provides brief information about the main symptoms, diagnosis, principles of treatment of the most common nosological forms of tumors, as well as the problems that the doctor, the patient and his family face in the terminal period of the disease.
