Our research goal was to establish prevalence and structure of metabolic syndrome in workers employed at an oil-extracting enterprise and peculiarities of a relation between working experience and metabolic syndrome components as well as medical behavior of workers given that there were cardiovascular risk factors. Data and methods. We examined 292 oil and gas extraction operators (test group) who were exposed to adverse industrial factors (chemical factor, noise, labor hardness, and unfavorable microclimate) and 65 office workers employed at the same enterprise (reference group). We determined whether workers had metabolic syndrome components and if yes, which ones (arterial hypertension, abdominal obesity, dyslipidemia, improper glycemia on an empty stomach); we also examined a relation between working experience and probability of these components being detected in a worker.
