Statement of the problem. The article provides an overview of theoretical concepts and studies on the meaning of life orientations and self-organization of students. The latter is considered as a set of properties and abilities of a person, allowing effective organization of one' s own activities. A contradiction is noted between the existing scientifically substantiated methods of self-determination in the educational process and the lack of self-organization skills in most students. The purpose of the articleis to characterize the features of life-meaning orientations among students of the cadet corps and the Mariinsky female secondary schools. Research methodologycomprises concepts and innovative models of the personality-activity approach (E.V. Bondarevskaya, A.A. Verbitsky, L.S. Vygotsky, V.V. Davydov, A.N. Leont'ev et al.), research in the field of self-regulation of activity (K.A. Abulkhanova-Slavskaya, V.B. Zinchenko, A.A. Leontyev), research on the theory of aspiration to the purpose of life by `V. Frankl, psychology of meaning by D.A. Leontiev, the theory of life-purpose orientations by V.E. Chudnovsky. The study involved 242 pupils of the system of cadet and female secondary education in the Krasnoyarsk region. For diagnostics, questionnaires were used entitled Test of Life-Purpose Orientations by D.A. Leontiev and Questionnaire of Self-Organization Activities by E.J. Mandrikova. The study was carried out in the regional state budgetary institution of general education „Krasnoyarsk Cadet Corps Named After A.I. Lebed”, regional state budgetary institution of general education ”Lesosibirskiy Cadet Corps”, regional state budgetary institution of general education „Sharypovskiy Cadet Corps” and the regional state budgetary institution of general education „Krasnoyarsk Mariinsky Women' s Boarding School”. Results. The study showed that most adolescents have predominantly low and middle levels of formation of life-purpose orientations. There is a connection among all parameters of life-purpose orientations (the purpose of life, the process of life, the effectiveness of life, locus control - I and locus control - life) and self-organization. Life-purpose orientations are a leading factor contributing to the definition of life goals. Conclusion. It could be concluded that a high level of self-organization among adolescents can be considered as one of the factors providing positive satisfaction with life, presence of promising goals. Independence, determination, awareness of one's atti-tude to oneself, to the world are significant and form the basis for self-realization in the social world, give meaning to life.
