Features of distribution of tobacco and alcohol abuse among first-year students of the medical school

This article analyzes the prevalence of alcohol abuse and smoking among first-year students of the Kuban State Medical University. The study was conducted among 517 people. It is shown that 15,5 % of students continue to smoke with some degree of regularity, 93,4 % of the students have experience of at least one test of alcohol, 9,7 % of the students show signs of primary pathological inclination for alcohol, 3,9 % - secondary pathological inclination for alcohol in the structure of alcohol withdrawal syndrome. The monitoring results can be used in designing and implementing complex targeted preventive measures to reduce the prevalence of smoking and alcohol abuse among college students, starting with the first year.
