Distinctive features of china’s relations with the nomads of the northern periphery of the empirein the Middle Ages

The article is devoted to the analysis of an interesting feature of Chinese civilization that appeared in the sphere of ethnic and cultural contacts with non-Chinese peoples in Northern China in the Middle Ages: all the elements brought from outside were gradually transformed into Chinese ones. Chinese culture, though borrowing some elements of the surrounding cultures through the process of interaction, adapted them in such an optimal way that in a short time they became part of the Chinese tradition.
