The article deals with the basic directions of the increasing of the efficiency of the functioning of municipal authorities as the necessary condition of the development of municipal formations. The special attention is paid to the realization of the measures promoting the formation of own financial and economic base of municipality, the improvement of quality, efficiency and transparency of the activity of local administrations.
