Education of gender-typed characteristics in female athletes in women's, men's and gender neutral sports

The gender-typed characteristics, masculinity and femininity were examined in 64 female athletes and 38 female nonathletes in women’s, men’s and gender neutral sports. The authors deduced that the masculine behavior can be considered as more adaptive in professional women sports; hence it is much more common in female athletes than in nonathletes. It is probably due to sports selection.
