Evaluation of non-governmental organizations influence on the election process in Russia

The article analyzes the activities of foreign non-governmental organizations during the 2007-2008 and 2011-2012 election campaigns in Russia, identifies both common features and specifics of the INO operations in these campaigns, and estimates the impact of Russian non-governmental organizations on the electoral process in Russia in 2007-2008 and in 2011-2012. The authors conclude that NGOs had a greater role and influence on the course of election campaigns at both the local and federal levels of governance.
