Social and cultural activity of Simbirsk province musical societies in the early XXth century

In this article the author presents the comparative analysis of Simbirsk province musical societies activities in the early XXth century. The musical societies were created almost simultaneously and united active participants of the region's cultural life. The quick growth of these unions in Simbirsk province in the early XXth century is accounted for by the all-Russian tendency. The author reveals the role of the musical societies in the provincial social and cultural life.
