The Russian empire secret service in the public mind during the Great War (1914 - 1917)

The article is devoted to the evolution of the public views about the Russian counterintelligence service during the First World War. The research defines basic changes in the attitudes of Russian citizens towards counterespionage bodies. The correlation between the process of the counterintelligence structures reorganization and the transformation of their public image is analyzed, and the conclusion about the level of social support of counterespionage measures in 1914 - 1917 is made.
