Starlets in Manuel Puig's novels (statement of problem)

The argentine writer M. Puig was fond of cinematography since childhood and dreamt to connect his life with the seventh art what influenced greatly his novels. The article attempts to analyze the starlet image and its transformation in the first four novels by M. Puig - «Betrayed by Rita Hayworth», «Heartbreak Tango», «The Buenos Aires Affair», and «Kiss of the Spider Woman». It is concluded that the starlet image is present in all four novels and gets new senses from novel to novel.
