On the «Non-lamellate» industries in the upper palaeolithic of the trans-Baikal region

Бесплатный доступ

This article considers the spread of «non-lamellate» industries among sites of the Middle Upper Palaeolithic at the eastern periphery of the Baikal Region. This research emerged after the discovery and investigation of Palaeolithic levels at the Kunalei site. The Kunalei culture is characterized by an unusual orthogonal technique for shaping cores and by elements of bifacial treatment of tools and a specific tool assemblage. There are parallels for the technical assemblage described here amidst a group of sites located in deposits of the Late-Karginsky interglacial - early Sartan glacial at the end of the third and beginning of the second stage of the oxygen-isotope scale (OIS).
