Бесплатный доступ

The paper presents a historiographic analysis of the works on semantics of stone statues of the ancient Turks. Two opposite opinions are revealed: some scholars suppose that the sculptures were created to honour ancestors and thus represent the dead, while others argue that they personify killed enemies of the deceased. The author shows foundations of various opinions, their strong and weak points.
