Some social and demographic characteristics of criminals who commit traffic crimes

Introduction: the article examines the social and demographic characteristics and qualities of persons who commit road traffic crimes, such as gender, age, educational level, occupation, driving experience, etc. The importance of such properties and qualities for the organization of preventive work on the considered crimes is emphasized. Materials and Methods: in the course of the work on the article, comparative legal, system-structural, statistical and concrete sociological methods were used. The materials were the results of the study of criminal cases on road traffic crimes and the results of the survey of persons who committed these crimes for the period from 2016 to 2020. Results: the analysis of the socio-demographic characteristics and qualities of criminals who have committed road traffic crimes, including in comparison with the socio-demographic characteristics of other categories of criminals and law-abiding citizens (drivers of vehicles); their distinctive features are revealed. Discussion and Conclusions: the study shows that in recent years, the socio-demographic characteristics of road traffic criminals have changed in a certain way, in particular, the number of women, young people, people with higher education, and foreign citizens increase traffic crimes.
