Mosaic as a semiotic element of culture

The object of this article is mosaic as a semiotic element of culture, which is in direct correlation with philosophy, religion and culture and is one of the fragments of the formation of the scale of human values. The subject of study was the fundamental feature of mosaic compositions, using several large periods in Russian mosaic as an example of the semiotic approach, namely, their symbolic character, the ability to encode social information using a system of characteristic signs and to fix this information in Russian and world culture.
