Mongolian youth: the Eurasian choice?

The article is devoted to the problem of public consciousness of modern Mongolian youth. The author and a group of colleagues within a pilot sociological poll have found out that public consciousness of the Mongolian youth is characterized by heterogeneous features. On the one hand, the aspiration to democracy, borrowing the examples of the western outlook and behavior, openness to the world are obvious, on the other hand, the desire to preserve traditions and customs of the people is noticeable. The author assumes that nevertheless the Eurasian choice prevails in Mongolia, but not the western values. As a result the issue of the public consciousness of the Mongolian youth is the issue on whose and which markers will be dominating in the course of forming the national and regional identity by Mongolia.
