FEA-simulation of composite shells for vehicles

The paper discusses methods for finite-element modeling of sandwich panels used in its shells for vehicles. Finite-element analysis allowed us to determine the range of rational thickness range of the adhesive layer in the joints of sandwich panels and a metal frame. Relatively low modulus of the adhesive provides the strength of GFRP in conjunction with a steel frame in the plane of a panel and in the transverse direction.
