The myth creation in "The cantos" by Ezra Pound

The article considers the myth-creation as one of the features of Pound’s mythopoetics, that realised in his key work "The Cantos". The analysis focuses on the changes that author of the poem bring into the mythological plots that appear in the text of Canto XX: the meeting of Odysseus and his companions with lotophages, and later with sirens. The specificity of the Pound's interpretation of the myth is defined as the use of the method of exposition of events known from antique sources and their assessment from a different point of view. In summary, a conclusion is made about the rethinking of the myth achieved by such artistic means.
